Naranjo (Chile) |

Born in
Santiago, Chile and managing his own design
company, Mr Naranjo has received numerous
awards, including the Gold Medal from
the Art Directors Club in New York. His
posters have been selected for international
Biennales; his works have been published
in international yearbooks and, he has
represented Latin America in many global
communication projects, such as "People
to People". In 1992, he participated
in the expositions "30 posters for
the environment" in Rio de Janeiro
and "America today - 500 years later"
in Mexico City. He graduated in Design
(Honors) from the University of Chile
(1978) and has worked in the USA. |

| Lionel
Koechlin (France) |
 |
| Living and
working in Paris, Mr Koechlin studied at
the National Advanced School of Art and
Crafts. He has written and designed children's
books that have been translated into Japanese,
Spanish and German. Mr Koechlin's silk-screen
print serigraphs have been issued in limited
editions and his drawings appear regularly
in newspapers and magazines, such as: Le
Monde, Libération, Les Echos, Enjeux,
National Geographic (France), The New Yorker
(USA), Eltern (Germany) and Frau (Japan).
His works have been exhibited in Stockholm,
Brussels, Paris, Geneva, and Tokyo. Mr Koechlin
received "Award of the Best Billboard".
His Cartoons have been adapted in several
TV stations in France. |

Shiva (Iran) |
 |
| An Art Director and
Graphic Designer working on posters, magazines,
covers, illustrations, ads, and environmental
designs, Mr Shiva holds an MS Degree in
Communications Design from Pratt Institute
(NY) and BA in Fine Arts. Mr Shiva is
a lecturer at Tehran Universities, Member
of the Board of Directors of Iran Graphic
Designers Society and a member of AGI.
He was recently appointed as Director
of the 8th International Poster Biennial
(Tehran). Mr Shiva has won international
prizes and awards in creative design,
including a diploma from 8th Biennial
Brno/CZ. |

Menéndez (Cuba) |
 |
| Born in Havana, Cuba
and currently Design Director at Casa
de las Américas, Mr Menéndez
lectures on Cuban graphic design in Europe,
North and South America. He graduated
from the Design Institute in Havana (1989)
and has worked as a freelance designer
specializing in cultural and social projects.
Mr Menéndez's works have been covered
in several international design publications.

Mobio (Côte d'Ivoire) |

| Recipient of a Diploma
National des Beaux Arts (Abidjan) and
a former student at the Ecole des Beaux
Arts in Lyon/France, Ms Mobio specializes
in graphic arts and audiovisuals. She
has published many children's books in
the Ivory Coast and was honored with the
"UNICEF pour L'Illustration"
award (1997) and the "UNESCO Special
Award for Tolerance" for "Le
petit garçon bleu" (text Fatou
Keita). Her work has appeared in many
exhibitions. Ms Mobio was active in Guinea's
"Lire en Fête" and is
a member of several associations including,
Illustrateurs de Presse.

Leach (New Zealand) |

| Born in New Zealand,
Mr Leach works as a Maori artist, educator
and designer. He draws on Maori imagery
left by his ancestors to tell stories
of his culture. By combining contemporary
mediums with traditional symbols, he is
able to merge the old with the new. Mr
Leach has exhibited both nationally and
internationally and has been involved
in numerous cultural exchanges with other
indigenous cultures worldwide. |

in Essaouira, Morocco, Ms Benhila currently
works in the center of the Medina in Essaouira.
Her works have been displayed in exhibitions
throughout Morocco and abroad, appeared
as illustrations in books (by authors
such as Fatima Mernissi) and covered in
several magazines and TV reports in Europe.

Kim (Republic of Korea) |

Born in
Seoul (1949), Mr Hyun Kim runs his own
design company working on design projects
dealing with: CI, BI, character, stamp
and Christmas seals. He won the "1988
Seoul Olympic Games Official Mascot"
and was twice awarded "Designer of
the Year" (1988, 2000). Mr Hyun Kim
was the first designer to receive the
Medal of Industrial Service Merit (1999). |

Bhowmick (India) |
 |
| Creative
Consultant at Mudra Communication in India,
Mr Bhowmick is a graphic designer with
specialization in textile, product and
exhibition design. He has created many
fabric calendars based on traditional
Indian designs and conducts workshops
for art students. His design works have
been exhibited in international Biennials
and he has received over 50 national and
international awards in graphics, advertising,
photography and book design. Twice the
Art Director of the Year and several times
Photographer of the Year in India, Mr
Bhowmick is a former Design Director of
the Calico Museum and Design Centre in
Ahmedabad.

van Vuuren (South Africa) |

| Working
as a freelance art director and painter,
Ms van Vuuren studied Sculpture and Graphic
Design at Pretoria Technicon, in Pretoria,
South Africa and has a national diploma
in both. Her experience includes over
thirteen years in art, design and advertising
including conceptual art direction and
illustration. She works with various mediums,
especially oil on canvas and uses rich
warm colors to create vibrant works of
art. Her work was recently acknowledged
by the selectors of the South African
Art Foundation and will be exhibited in
2003.

| Born
in Canada (1945), Ms Cooper is committed
to the imaginative expression of ideas
and has a passion for things well done.
According to Ms Cooper, "the greatest
works are never properly rewarded and
likely never will be because, in order
to achieve that greatness the artist leaps
beyond the commercial boundaries, and
applies talent and imagination that far
exceed everyone's original expectations.
Only by giving from the heart in this
way will an artist summon the inspiration,
ideas and insight that kindle the finest
work".

Kure (Nigeria) |

| Born
in Kano, Nigeria, Ms Kure graduated with
a B.A (Painting) from the University of
Nigeria, Nsukka (1994). Her works have
been exhibited in Nigeria, the USA, and
Germany. Ms Kure has participated in twenty-seven
group shows in Africa, Europe and North
America and has done studio residencies
in Germany and the USA. She was awarded
the Uche Okeke Prize for Drawing (1994),
the UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists
(1999), and was included in the Multichoice
Africa "African Artists of the Future"
calendar (2002).

Suárez Cowley (Costa Rica) |

| Having
studied Information Design at the Industrial
Design Polytechnic Institute (IPDI)(1991),
Ms Suárez is an experienced graphic
designer whose work covers design and
illustrations for: postal stamps, books,
field guides, cards and publicity campaigns.
Her works have been displayed in Spain,
Cuba, Japan and Costa Rica amongst others.
Ms Suárez works with oil on canvas
and in gouache technique.

and living in Cologne, Germany, Ms Langer-Rosa
has been internationally awarded for her illustrations,
communications and art projects with UNESCO, the
European Commission and the United Nations Postal
Administration (UNPA). Her work focuses on social,
environmental and cultural aspects and her illustrations
have been exhibited internationally. She has served
as juror at international Biennales and has lectured
in Europe, Mexico and South Korea. |

Langer (Germany) |

Based in Cologne, Germany and Art Director of
this calendar project, Mr Langer specializes
in conception and design for global communication
projects. He has developed multi-cultural communications
projects for international organizations, institutions
and companies. His visual identities, logos
and posters are published worldwide and have
received international awards. As Past President
of the International Council of Graphic Design
Associations (ICOGRADA) he is part of a global
art and design network, including over 60 countries.
He lectures at universities in Europe, Asia
and Latin America and, is a keynote speaker
at international design conventions. Mr Langer
participates as juror at international exhibitions
and competitions worldwide. |
